New Development Program – this is what Miss World Canada stands for. The pageant prides itself on its
philanthropic focus: here in Canada, Miss World Canada donates $60,000 to $75,000 every year to Variety
– the Children’s Charity to help children with special needs, with support of its young contestants, volunteers
and generous sponsors.
Miss World® remains the oldest, most prestigious and largest pageant in the world, and is still the most
watched annually televised show, even beating out the Olympics in its ratings. Each year, the pageant
continues to break records by attracting participants from over 147 countries with primary focus on
humanitarianism and philanthropy. Miss World® has changed the lives of many children by raising so far
over 1 billion dollars globally.
The Miss & Mister World® Canada National Finals will be a grand celebration of all these accomplishments. This is

Letter from Bernice Scholten, Executive Director, Variety – The Children’s Charity

To Whom It May Concern,
As the Chair of the Miss World Canada organization, Ike Lalji set out to make a difference. Not only would he ensure
that young women across the country had the opportunity to represent Canada as ambassadors on the world stage, but would make a notable contribution to society through humanitarian efforts.
“Beauty With A Purpose” is a unique proposition to the Miss World Canada organization; delegates fundraise for
Variety – The Children’s Charity, and through this process stand as leaders in their communities, inspiring others to help children who have special needs.
Over the past five years, the Miss World Canada delegates have raised more than $300,000 for Variety. The funds go towards providing life-saving medication and emergency trips to out-of-community hospitals; life-changing mobility and communication equipment and therapies; and life-enriching bursaries and therapeutic summer camps. Variety sees each child as a champion and supports them in their quest to reach their full potential. Thanks to the vision and direction of
Ike Lalji, more children who have special needs will be able to achieve their own little victories.
Ike Lalji understands leadership. He values dedication. And he knows the power of a caring heart and a commitment to giving back. Variety has benefitted significantly through his support, both through funds raised and awareness of its cause. We are honoured to recognize Ike Lalji for his valued contributions

Sincerely,
Bernice Scholten
Executive Director
Variety – The Children’s Charity
