Regina & Yorkton Photographer – Amazing “Roaring 20’s ” Wedding at Calgary’s Heritage Park

We had a whirlwind weekend. Drove up to Calgary Friday, shoot this amazing wedding Saturday and on the road back to Yorkton Sunday.
Mandy looked breathtaking in her wedding dress, she purchased her Tony Ward gown at Klienfelds in New York! New York! The theme of the wedding was ” Roaring 20’s” and most of the guests were wearing that attire. the decorations, table setting, venue was extraordinary! Can you imagine all this in Gasoline Alley as the venue, Old model A’s, fire trucks, vintage gasoline pumps. This wedding was one for the record books!!
The day started off with Mandy at her spaciest motel room in downtown Calgary- Hotel Arts. We took her outside on the city sidewalk and tucked her dress under her and she took a spin on a bicycle, it made for a awesome photo and Mandy loved it….having fun on your wedding day is superb! We got word that the party bus was coming so we got her inside and hide her so Jordan couldn’t see her. This is where we did the ” first look”
The look on his face was priceless when he saw Mandy standing there! The art work in the motel was very grand, we did a few pic’s there. From there on to Lougheed house, its a beautiful building and the walkways were all in bloom with lilac’s. It was a tab bit warm +30, thank goodness for a breeze. I definitely wanted a city scape photo, Calgary skyscrapers are a awesome backdrop.
Time was moving quickly , so we decided to go to Heritage Park. The train station was awesome, truly in her vintage theme. Jordan and his groomsmen are all oil men , so it was fitting to do a few photos of them by the old oil well.
It was getting close to the time of their evening wedding, outdoors on the front porch of Prince House in Heritage Park. It looked so beautiful with the front steps all decorated with the feather bouquets. The day was starting to cool down when they said their vows. From there it was off to the Gasoline Alley for a fabulous meal and dancing.
What a amazing day for them both, Preston and Bret. Congrat’s Mandy and Jordan, thanking for choosing us to document it for you and share in your joy! Here’s a few we captured….

Info on how they met and how he proposed

Me and Jordan both went to high school in Yorkton and had all the same friends but only knew each other to see each other. Never spoke. Then he was living and working with my good friend Amber’s husband Tim Kriger. I had recently went through a bad break up and was hanging out at Amber and Tim’s and therefore Jordan and we hooked up I guess you would say lol. Our first date was on Valentines Day to Tropicana in 2003 and then a couple months later Amber kicked Jordan out of there house and he moved in with me and we’ve been together ever since haha!

The Proposal!

We were on a family cruise in January of 2014 and docked on the island of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. Jordan surprised me with a private helicopter ride to a private beach (in lui of our 10 yr anniversary coming up that Feb). I had no idea about anything he had planned. While on the beach he produced a bottle of Don Perignon from 2002 as it was the closest to the year of us meeting they could find. While drinking a glass he was screwing around with his swim trunks then got down on his knee and proposed. I apparently don’t handle surprised well because I got mad haha and he was a little nervous as to whether I was going to say yes! But of course I did. Funny story, before we left on the helicoptor ride he took his swim trunks to his moms room for her “to fix” which I offered to do as I sew pretty damn good but he told me his mom was better (which pissed me off and I cursed his name lol). but he was taking them there for her to sew the ring into his shorts so he wouldn’t lose it. And everyone on the trip, his parents, my mom, his sister, brother and their wife/husband and children all knew he was going to propose, and I still had no clue!)
And of course he got me a super fancy vintage inspired Tiffany ring:)!
